A Small Step ... In the Right Direction

"And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom, seek learning even by study and also by faith; Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God; That your incomings may be in the name of the Lord, that your outgoings may be in the name of the Lord, that all your salutations may be in the name of the Lord, with uplifted hands unto the Most High -" (D&C 109:7-9)

When you humbly turn to God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ and ask specific questions to determine your "right direction", with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. (See Moroni 10:4-5)

When you sincerely start asking God serious questions about "touchy subjects or possibilities", religion, prophets, doctrine, or whatever and really want to know what God thinks about it, BEWARE, you may get a very unexpected answer, which you may find to be uncomfortable, not ordinary, or as a "pill that is hard to swallow", and life gets turned upside down and sometimes inside out. In fact, life will unlikely ever be the same because you know something now that you didn't before.

Not only that, but you become accountable to God for being aware of something more. God is very merciful to you, requires you to deeply desire something and ask Him for it, and resists "overloading" you with knowledge for which you are not yet prepared. A correct perspective or direction revealed from God makes a huge difference, almost always requires repentance and change, and is seldom comfortable to practice in this world in which we reside.

Sometimes to move forward in life, you need to turn around. It does not necessarily mean that you wasted your time. You just didn't understand then what you understand now.
