Attitude Determines Altitude

I have heard that our attitude largely determines our altitude in life.

The significant and amazing thing is we get to choose what attitudes we have right now.

Everyone makes that choice every day, either in a state of accountability being awake, conscious, and responsible or, by default, in a state of irresponsibility, freewheeling, and happy-or-sad-go-lucky sort of thing.

Perhaps, when we truly grow up, we will take more responsibility for our attitudes and be more fully accountable for our choices.

Offer Refusal Brings Damnation

If God sends a message you better heed it, even if you find it

difficult to hear. When God offers a blessing or knowledge to a man, and

he refuses to receive it, he will be damned. (DS Lecture #5)

CS Lewis had some profound things to share:

“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”

"[Reality] is not neat, not obvious, not what you expect."

There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way."

“All get what they want; they do not always like it.” 

Receive First, Then Teach

“Writing the words of eternal life require someone to have eternal life. They can still be mortal, but they need the promise of eternal life. So I suppose the Lord’s admonition: “Seek first the kingdom of God, and all things shall be added thereto” really answers the question. Or as told to Hyrum: “Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word.” The one must precede the other. At least the statement of the Lord to His disciples, and the revelation to Hyrum Smith seem to indicate as much.” DS 2-9-10 

 

Would it be logical to assume that someone, who does not live the gospel, has the ability to teach it? Could a man, who has not repented, received baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, properly teach and bear witness of the doctrine of Christ? Is it possible for you to teach anything with authority, if you have not obtained it? Certainly something to ponder and worth considering.

Words of Eternal Life - Historic Book of Mormon

Words of Eternal Life is now live. It has taken a while to come this far, and we are excited about what is happening.

To honor the work of the Prophet Joseph Smith, we are publishing the Historic Edition of the Book of Mormon. The facsimiles of an original 1840 Book of Mormon and a PDF of the Historic Edition can be downloaded now. A printed book and e-book will be available soon.​

The 1840 Book of Mormon is significant because this edition of the Book of Mormon was carefully revised by the translator, Joseph Smith Jr., born December 23, 1805 - died June 27, 1844.

We give all the glory to God for the completion of this work. We express gratitude for the many who have contributed to this project and have labored with us.

Zions Return

Zion is not just a topic, but has consistently proven to be of high priority and of great importance to every prophet of God from the days of Adam down to today. According to the scriptures, Zion has only been established two times on this earth since the time of Adam and a prophesied third time of Zion being brought forth and experienced during the last days, just prior to and preparatory for Christ's second coming.

Zion made its first appearance in the days of Enoch and its second appearance later in the days of Melchizedek. Both followed the same preparation pattern to receive Zion. Both preached repentance and baptized, and thereby established a City of Holiness and peace upon the mountains and high places; and the Lord called his people Zion because they were of one heart and one mind, dwelt in righteousness; and there were no poor among them. Their hearts were pure.

These are the same characteristics of the Zion prophesied to again be found on earth in the last days, before the Lord returns in His glory. Throughout history God has covenanted with, promised, and assured many of His servants that in the last days God would indeed bring again Zion. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in His glory.

Since we are currently living in the last days, it seems important to me to take note of what is happening before our very eyes. I have enjoyed and appreciated the information shared on line and you may find it valuable too.
