Last week we bought their birthday presents. When we got home, we just put the shopping bags on our bedroom, closet floor. The next day when Joseph and Marianne woke up, they found their presents. Without even asking, they started playing with their new toys. I guess we didn’t do a very good job of hiding them.
They didn’t want to wait a whole week to play with their new stuff, and we didn’t think it was a big deal. So, they both enjoyed an early birthday.
Last week they were drawing on the patio with their new sidewalk chalk. It’s a little wet and snowy to be doing that today.
They love to play outside. While the older children worked on their schoolwork, they went sledding down the little hill and played with their new balls, trucks, and loaders.
Marianne enjoys her dump truck and loader just as much as Joseph enjoys his. Playing in the snow is even better than playing in the dirt. Their new toys don’t get all dirty. This means they can bring them inside without having to first clean off all the mud and dirt.
Joseph was so excited to help April make his birthday cake. He took the mix out of the package and tried to open it. He pulled and yanked on the plastic bag and ended up spilling the mix all over the counter.
Marianne wants brownies for her birthday. She can help make them on Wednesday. Baking is almost as much fun as eating the finished product.
