I woke up thinking about lifeboats and a canary in a coal mine. So I decided to write a song. It might sound like an odd combination, but it conveys what is in my heart . . . warning before the storm and who can truly sense what’s happening.
Sometimes the signal is small, easy to dismiss. Just a fragile life down low, a little bird in the coal mine, there to warn of unseen danger. If you’re paying attention, you begin to notice who can sense what others miss.
This song isn’t about convincing anyone or winning a crowd. I truly want everyone to get what they want.
As for me, I’m choosing the crew I want to weather the coming storms with: the ones who discern, who stand steady, whose hearts hold the line. When the storm is upon us, I'll be on a ship with a crew I can trust with my life.
So I’ll leave you with the same question I’ve been asking myself . . . Who can you trust to weather the storm with you?
