“And who shall say that Jesus Christ did not do many mighty
miracles? And there were many mighty miracles wrought by the hands of
the apostles. And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God
ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And
behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be
God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. And the
reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is
because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way,
and know not the God in whom they should trust. Behold, I say unto
you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he
shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him;
and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.
(Mormon 9:18-21)
“For behold, I am God; and I am a God
of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same
yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of
men save it be according to their faith.” (2 Nephi 27:23)
“And it came to
pass that when Jesus had made an end of praying he came again to the
disciples, and said unto them: So great faith have I never seen among
all the Jews; wherefore I could not show unto them so great miracles,
because of their unbelief. Verily I say unto you, there are none of
them that have seen so great things as ye have seen; neither have
they heard so great things as ye have heard.” (3 Nephi 19:35-36)
“And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto
me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be
saved. And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these
things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto
you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are true,
and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased? Or have angels
ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the
power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall
last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the
face thereof to be saved? Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by
faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels
appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased
wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and
all is vain. For no man can be saved, according to the words of
Christ, save they shall have faith in his name; wherefore, if these
things have ceased, then has faith ceased also; and awful is the
state of man, for they are as though there had been no redemption
made.” (Moroni 7:34-38)
“Wo unto him that spurneth at the
doings of the Lord; yea, wo unto him that shall deny the Christ and
his works! Yea, wo unto him that shall deny the revelations of the
Lord, and that shall say the Lord no longer worketh by revelation, or
by prophecy, or by gifts, or by tongues, or by healings, or by the
power of the Holy Ghost! Yea, and wo unto him that shall say at that
day, to get gain, that there can be no miracle wrought by Jesus
Christ; for he that doeth this shall become like unto the son of
perdition, for whom there was no mercy, according to the word of
Christ!” (3 Nephi 29:5-7)
“I came unto mine own, and mine own
received me not; but unto as many as received me gave I power to do
many miracles, and to become the sons of God; and even unto them that
believed on my name gave I power to obtain eternal life.” (D&C
45:8)
“And now it came to pass that
according to our record, and we know our record to be true, for
behold, it was a just man who did keep the record—for he truly did
many miracles in the name of Jesus; and there was not any man who
could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every
whit from his iniquity— (3 Nephi 8:1)
